A Basic Introduction on Math-Link in Mathematica

Starting from the basic ideas of Mathematica I give a detailed description how to link external programs with Mathematica through proper MathLink commands. This article will be helpful for the beginners to start and write programs in Mathematica. I also describe in detail about the characterizations of local and global variables which are very essential for writing programs in Mathematica. We can export a graphics file from Mathematica notebook in different formats and also many complicated plots can be done very simply. The most important part which I investigate in this article is the way of linking an external program with Mathematica. This will be very helpful to run complicated jobs and also the operations will be extremely fast. In the literature we see that external programs can be linked with Mathematica if the programs are written in C language. But this is quite difficult to understand for the beginners. Here I describe how one can link external programs those are written either in F77 or F90 or F95. We can compile and optimize our programs by using several commands which are also described in detail. So by using these optimization conditions and proper MathLink commands one can write complicated jobs in smallest size and execute the jobs within a very short time.
